CETO (Certificate of Excellence for Teaching Online) A semester-long, hybrid professional development course that helps UNT instructors
apply inclusive, evidence-based practices in their online teaching. Through a supportive
learning community, participants design engaging content and learning experiences
to improve student success and belonging.
CLAW Institute (Collaborative Learning Active Workspaces Institute) A semester-long, hybrid faculty learning community focused on active learning and
technology-enhanced instruction. UNT instructors engage in online modules and synchronous
meetings to design engaging, team-based learning experiences that support student
success.
GAIT (Generative AI Institute for Teaching) A semester-long faculty learning community that explores ethical, effective applications
of Generative AI in teaching and learning. Through online modules and virtual meetings,
instructors engage with topics like chatbots, skill development, multimodal assignments,
and the evolving role of AI in education.
GSTEP (Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Program) An online, semester-long course designed to prepare UNT graduate students for effective
college-level teaching. Through structured modules and a teaching practicum, participants
gain foundational skills in lesson planning, assessment, and inclusive pedagogy to
support diverse learners in higher education.
OCAI (Open Course Authoring Institute) A fully online, asynchronous course that guides UNT instructors in creating open,
accessible, and inclusive course content in Canvas. Participants develop at least
three content modules, replacing traditional textbooks or third-party materials with
customized, multimodal learning resources.

Teaching Recognition Celebrating excellence in teaching at UNT, this initiative includes programs like
the Outstanding Online Teacher & Course Awards and Thank a Teacher. These efforts
recognize faculty who demonstrate innovation, dedication, and impact in student learning—both
online and in the classroom.
